Somnath Temple
Somnath temple - master shiva temple known as jyotirling worked by moon god. Somnath is one of among 12 jyotirlings. The temple of somnath itself is accepted to have showed up first in gold, in line with the sun god, next in silver, made by the moon god, a third time in wood at the order of master krishna and at last in stone worked by bhimdeva. The temple to the tenth century when it become rich from devotee gifts, such riches gained the attention of the mahmud of ghazni who destroyed the place of pilgrimage and took its riches away to Afghanistan. The present temple was worked to customary structures on the first costal site. Just a small walking distance from the temple is the Prabhas Patan museum housing architectural pieces of the first temple of the somnath before they were demolished by trespassers. Photography is disallowed in the temple.
